Why did you choose your current University/Country?
A major factor that informed my decision to join Kansas State University (KSU) is the research I will be working on. I will be working alongside 2 different professors on applying techniques in machine learning to solve certain issues in hydrocarbon exploration. And of course, I was given a full-ride scholarship in form of Graduate Research Assistant/Graduate Teaching Assistant (GRA/GTA) that covers my tuition, health insurance, and a monthly stipend. The relatively low cost of living in Manhattan was another factor I considered before making a decision.
How has the experience been so far?
It has been pretty cool. Settling in has been made easier by the generosity of residents here. Everyone is giving out one thing or the other. There is also a place to get free foodstuffs anytime, any day on campus. Yeah, I am enjoying it at the moment.
What have you found most interesting about your new city?
The serene environment and generosity of the residents.
What advice do you have for prospective scholars?
To ensure they put their best side forward in every application and put their absolute effort. They should apply to as many opportunities as possible.
How did i-Scholar initiative contribute to your journey?
I-scholar expedited my graduate school journey. Prior to getting the iSI scholarship, my plan was to save up money during my NYSC to register for GRE and TOEFL. Meaning, if not for the iSI scholarship, I would be targeting the Fall 2022 admission window by now. Also, the mentorship that comes with the iSI package is one that really helped my application.
