Dr. Gboyega Ayeni is an accomplished professional in the field of geophysics and has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. Currently, he serves as a commercial advisor at ExxonMobil, where he plays a crucial role in supporting exploration and business development activities.

Before taking on his current position, Dr. Ayeni held senior technical roles in research and technology development with specific focus on seismic imaging and full wavefield inversion. With several peer-reviewed publications and patents, his expertise contributed to advancing the understanding and application of seismic imaging. Dr. Ayeni managed the eastern hemisphere seismic processing team at ExxonMobil, where he oversaw several complex projects. He also served as a planning advisor for global frontier exploration, where he contributed his knowledge and insights to strategic decision-making processes.

Dr. Ayeni holds a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Geophysics from Stanford University, a Master’s degree in Exploration Geophysics from the University of Leeds, a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Geophysics from Obafemi Awolowo University, and a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Yaba College of Technology. He is an active member of the geophysical community serving as technical peer-reviewer for professional journals such as Geophysics (Society of Exploration Geophysicists) and Geophysical Prospection (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers).

Dr. Ayeni is happily married and has two children. He enjoys traveling with his family to explore new places and experience different cultures. He has a strong passion for mentorship and is dedicated to guiding and supporting the professional growth of others.
