iScholars Initiative (iSI) is an education-focused initiative designed to support talented and motivated students through a combination of academic support, mentorship, leadership development, and capacity building.
The iScholar Initiative is open to eligible Nigerian applicants who meet the stated academic, examination, and program requirements. Full eligibility details are available on the Eligibility page.
Once your application is successfully submitted:
- Your dashboard status will change to Submitted or Pending
- You will no longer be able to edit your Profile, Personal Information, or Education sections
- Reference links will automatically be sent to your referees
If your dashboard shows Pending, it means one or both references are yet to be received.
Yes, you should upload your NYSC call-up letter. NYSC Certificate/Call-Up Letter is not
required at the time of application but will be requested if you are selected.

No, the test only qualifies you to proceed with the scholarship application.
Currently, the scholarship is targeted at applicants from Nigeria residing in Nigeria, but plans are being made to expand eligibility to other African countries soon.
No, these costs are not covered by iSI.
It depends on your specific circumstances. If you have not taken the exams and your graduate program does not require the exams, we can look for ways to support. However, this is on a case-by-case basis.

iSI does not currently offer mentorship separately. However, if/when a mentorship program is introduced, the public will be notified.
No, iSI does not specifically sponsor MSc or PhD programs. iSi sponsors the exams and provides end-to-end mentorship from graduate school applications through graduation.
The number of schools covered depends on the applicant, but there is a stipulated financial limit.
You can submit a student copy signed by your Head of Department (HOD) and upload the official transcript once you secure the scholarship.
